إن أهمية هذه الدراسة تكمن في كشف الدلالات الثقافية الخاصة بالمجتمع اليمني، وموقفه حيال كثير من القضايا العامة والخاصة، ورصد التحولات الثقافية الحاصلة بفعل التغيرات المكانية والزمانية.لقد جاءت الرواية اليمنية مثقلة بالأنساق الثقافية، كل نسق يحكي جانبًا من جوانب الحياة الاجتماعية اليمنية، وقد كانت الرواية اليمنية صادقة في الكشف عن تلك الجوانب التي جاء تشكلها بصورة إما مقصودة من الكاتب، وإما جاءت دون قصد، فرضتها الثقافة المهيمنة على وعي الكاتب.وتذهب الرواية اليمنية إلى أن السلطة الاجتماعية تقع على الذكر والأنثى معًا، إلا أن السلطة أكثر إحكامًا على الأنثى؛ تجاوبًا مع الموروث الثقافي الكامن في وعي المجتمع المفضي إلى أن الذكر صانع السلطة، والأنثى المستجيبة لقوانين تلك السلطة.والأنثى تسعى في كتاباتها إلى لفت النظر إلى تركيبتها البيولوجية المكتملة، وهي المتضمنة البُعد النفسي والذهني لها، رافضة الاكتفاء بكونها مجرد وجود حسي جسدي.إن الكتابة النسوية تختلف من حيث الموضوع والسياقات الثقافية عن الكتابات الذكورية؛ نظرًا لاختلاف وقع السلطة على كليهما، وهذا يحدد الكيفية التي يأتي عليها الإنتاج؛ حيث نلحظ أن الكتابة النسوية أكثر اضطرابًا من الكتابة الذكورية.والكتابات الذكورية تركز على سياقي المادة والحب ودورهما في صنع المعاناة، ثم إنها كتابات ذات حركة أفقية تصحيحية؛ حيث تعمل على رفض السلطة الواقعة على الذكر دون إحداث زعزعة لوجوده في المتن الاجتماعي. أما الكتابات النسوية فتسلط الضوء على الذات النسوية، وصرف الآخر عن اعتبارها مجرد جسد، تسعى من خلال ذلك إلى الصعود إلى المتن الاجتماعي بجوار الذكر، رافضة وجودها في الهامش الاجتماعي؛ لذلك تأتي كتاباتها عمودية هادمة للسائد المجتمعي.
