متاهة زوربا هي رحلة من التيه إلى التيه.. لا وصول فيها وإنما هي الرحلة التي بدأت لكي لا تنتهي.. يبحث فيها زوربا عن وجوده، ذلك الوجود الذي هو هِبة لم يخترْها ولكنه تشبث بها، فهي طريقه الوحيد نحو الحرية.. تلك الحرية التي هي أثمن ما يمتلك زوربا، إن لم تكن هي كل ما يملكه زوربا. بحث زوربا في تلك الرحلة عن الله.. تحاور معه .. سأل فتولدت ملايين الأسئلة حيث لم ينتظر الإجابات رغم ألم فقدها، ولكن هكذا تكون ضريبة الحرية .. ثم انتقل ليحاور الإنسان ويبحث عن (من هو الإنسان) .. فوجده ذرة طين تجوب هذا الكون اللانهائي، ووجده روح الكون الذي لولاه ما وُجد كل هذا الكون .. يا له من كائن! تساءل زوربا... هل لهذا الإنسان معنى؟ .. وما هو؟ .. لماذا يعتقد أن أسمى القيم هي الحرية والحب والجمال؟ .. ولماذا وجد أن أعظم تجلياتها هي الصدق والشجاعة والنبل؟ .. ولماذا يرى أن أقدس ما يمكن فعله هو الاعتزال والثورة والإبداع؟ زوربا ذلك اللا منتمي الذي أدرك ما في الوجود من زيف فصرخ في وجهه، وخرج عن قوالبه حتى أعلن نفسه لا منتميًا يرسم الوجود بريشته، ويصنع منه زوربا كبيرًا يضم الوجود كله .. ليس غرورًا وإنما وجودية تدفعه لأن يصبغ الوجود بصبغته ما دام يدركه بحواسه ويعقله بعقله ويخلقه بروحه. إنها رحلة زوربا من اللحم إلى الروح .. من النور الأول حيث جاء ومضة من الوجود إلى النور الأول حيث اتخذ مسارًا دائريًّا في فهم الوجود ليصل إلى نفس النقطة التي بدأ منها، فقد بدأ من كماله ثم دار دورته لينزع عن كماله ظلال الزيف المُرهقة ليصل إلى كماله الأول.
