هذا الكتاب يقع ضمن سلسلة بعنوان أحب القراءة، وهو يمثّل المستوى الأول من مستويات القراءة الأساسية: مستوى تمييز الكلمات، الذي يعدّ أهم مستوى لتمكين الطفل من القراءة، والذي أطلق عليه اسم "عتبة القراءة".
يحتوي هذا الكتاب على (50) كلمة، كلّها أفعال ماضية، من الأفعال البسيطة التي تمرّ عادة في خبرة الطفل.
كل الكلمات في هذا الكتاب تتكون من ثلاثة مقاطع: ص ح+ ص ح + ص ح، وهي من أبسط التكوينات الصوتية التي يسهل على الطفل فهمها والتمكن منها.
جاء توزيع الكلمات في الصفحات بشكل مدروس، بحيث قُدَمت الكلمة مقطّعة في شكل رأسي، وهذا يقلّل من اتساع المدى البصري الذي يحتاجه الطفل للقراءة، مما يرفع نسبة التركيز لديه، ويخفّض نسبة التشتت.
ثم قُدّمت الكلمة نفسها مقطّعة في شكل أفقي، حتى ينتقل الطفل من التقطيع الرأسي إلى الأفقي الذي يتوافق مع طبيعة الكتابة في العربية واتجاهها.
ثم تقدّم الكلمة كاملة بلا تقطيع، وهذه المرحلية في تقديم مجموعة من الكلمات تشترك كلها في البنية،تساعد الطفل على تكوين آلية ثابتة للقراءة، مما يرفع من مستوى كفاءته وسرعته.
في نهاية الكتاب وضعتُ جدولا مقترحا لتوزيع الكلمات على الأيام، يمكن لولي الأمر أو المعلم أن يتقيّد به إذا أحب.
ومن باب التشجيع والتحفيز وضعنا ملصقات صغيرة يلصقها الطفل تحت كل كلمة ينتهي من قراءتها، ليستمر في قراءة الكلمات وينهي الكتاب.
هذا الكتاب صُمّم ليرفع من ثقة الطفل في نفسه، ويحبّب إليه القراءة، من دون أن يثقل كاهله بمطالب كثيرة ووقت طويل.
