أول مرّة في حياتي سمعتُ فناننا الكبير محمد عبده -وفي رواية ثانية "أبو عبد الرحمن" وفي رواية ثالثة "أبو نورة" وفي رواية رابعة "فنان العرب"- أول مرة سمعتُه فيها كنتُ في الصف الأول الابتدائي في المدينة المنيرة، كانت الأغنية -على ما أعتقد- "ما هقيت أن البراقع يفتننّي".. كان البث عبر التلفاز الأبيض والأسود -طبعاً-، وكان يصاحب الأغنية أيضاً فتيات مبرقعات، سمعتُ النّص ولم أستسغ حينها لا المُغنّي ولا الكلمات ولا المبرقعات، فقررتُ أن أؤلّف كتاباً إعجاباً بالفنان الكبير طلال مدّاح -رحمه الله- وانتقاصاً من الفنّان محمد عبده -حفظه الله- وقرّرتُ أن أسمّي الكتاب بهذا العنوان: "الفنّان الأصلي طلال مداح والفنان التقليدي محمد عبده".. وفعلاً بدأتُ بكتابة أفكاري في دفتر "أبو 100 ورقة"، ووضعتُ في المقدمة صورة كبيرة لطلال مدّاح، وتحتها صورة صغيرة لمحمد عبده.
