ولدت عشية عيد استقلال لبنان، في 22 تشرين الثاني، وتحديداً بعد دقائق من انتصاف الليل، على يد الدكتورة حياة العلمي، أشهر قابلة قانونية في طرابلس، والتي ساعدتني في المجيء إلى هذه الدنيا داخل بيت أهلي من دون حاجة إلى مستشفى، وهتفت وهي تستقبل صراخي الأول: إنه «قمر»، ولن أسمح لأحد برؤيته قبل أن تأتوني بخرزة زرقاء أعلقها على صدره...
وتستكمل أمي الحكاية التي روتها لصديقاتها آلاف المرات، وهي أن الشموع الأحتفالية التي زينت الأسطح والشرفات، كانت تضيء حارات المدينة في تلك الليلة التشرينية!
كان ذلك أحد مظاهر الاحتفال بعيد الاستقلال في لبنان في ذلك الزمن، لكن أمي لا تشرح السبب في مروياتها، مكتفية بأن يكون مشهد مجيئي إلى الحياة، أشبه بمهرجان من الشموع، شارك فيه كل لبنان...
كان اسمي «زياد»!
لقد اختاروه لي قبل حضوري! ولكن أبي اختلف مع صديق له يحمل هذا الاسم، خلال الأيام الأولى لولادتي، وقرر أن يعاقبه بتغيير اسمي!
وبقيت أياماً بلا اسم...
عندما أمسكت بي الحاجة «أم بدر قمر الدين»، وبسملت وحوقلت وتلت المعوذات وختمت بآية الكرسي، قالت لأبي وأمي: إنه يشبه الملوك، ولن يكون اسمه سوى «طلال»، على اسم الملك طلال بن عبدالله الهاشمي.
وهكذا اختاروا لي اسم ملك سيِّىء الحظ، لن يبقى على عرشه طويلاً، وسينتهي عهده بشكل حزين، حين سيخلفه ابنه حسين لأن «الملك» أصيب في عقله!!
لم أكن بكر والدي، كما يعتقد الجميع تقريباً! لقد سبقتني إلى الدنيا شقيقة لن أعرفها أبداً حملت اسم «وفاء»، وحتى اللحظة لا أعرف إن كانت قد ماتت قبل أو بعد ولادتي، ولا كيف ماتت! لم أسأل أبي وأمي، رغم أن هذا السؤال لم يفارقني طوال هذه الحياة...
