Joanne Froggatt, of "Downton Abbey" fame, effectively narrates this slow-burn thriller. The plot involves the disappearance of a young mother and her boyfriend after a night of drinking at the upscale home of a college acquaintance. The story shifts between three timelines and three points of view, so listeners will have to pay careful attention to keep track of the timeframes and the characters. Froggatt works to bring distinctive voices to the key players and is particularly effective at voicing Kim, who is now caring for her grandson because her daughter has disappeared. She also shifts effortlessly to the posh accents of the wealthy neighbors. Jewell provides listeners with appealing and well-rounded personalities and atmospheric settings.
